    • Robert William "Bob" MacDonald

Of Mount Denson, loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully in Hants Community Hospital on Tuesday, March 24, 2020. Bob was born November 22, 1940 as the second of four children to John and Celia MacDonald. He was predeceased by his sister, Marilyn Spinney (George). Bob first joined CKF in 1959 as a production worker, starting in Shipping and working his way up the line of progression to the Stock Running Department. In 1966, he was transferred to the office doing payroll. He progressed to Assistant to the Chief Accountant then Chief Accountant. After achieving his Certified Management Accountant Certification, Bob moved up to Director of Financial and Administrative Services. In 1989, Bob was appointed Vice-President of Finance and became a member of the Executive Management team where he remained until his retirement. Bob loved sports, playing hockey, softball, tennis and golf, an activity that he enjoyed with his wife Carole. He loved spending a warm summer day slicing and hooking his way down the course while Carole played slow and steady up the middle. It was one of their favorite ways to spend time together until his health declined. Bob and Carole loved to travel, enjoying many trips south searching for sunnier skies and greener golf courses. When not working, studying or playing sports you would find him volunteering to help a friend, family member or an organization close to his heart. He volunteered at the Hantsport Memorial Community Center, was involved in Rotary in Windsor, was an active member/deacon of Mount Denson Baptist Church, and helped maintain the local cemetery. He was always quick to help those in need whether it was with an extra pair of hands or some of his time. Bob loved music and singing and taught himself how to play guitar from a young age. Everyone who knew him was pleased that it replaced an early dalliance with the accordion. He used his gift of music in Mount Denson Baptist Church often leading the hymns, participating in choirs and helping with special holiday songs when called on. Music was an important part of not only his faith but of his home life as well making summer family gatherings and holiday sing-songs a fond memory for those who took part. Bob was a kind, loving, devoted, faithful, generous, dedicated and joyful man who was robbed of his golden years by various ailments and worst of all Alzheimer\'s. He is now at peace and the world is a little worse off without him. He will be greatly missed.
