- HYSON, Kathleen
Age 93, of Hantsport, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 11, 2015, at home, surrounded by her children. Born in Tadcaster, North Yorkshire, England, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Lillian (Wilson) Johnson. She was also predeceased by her husband, Ronald Victor Hyson (Holland); husband, Kempton Merrill Hyson (Hantsport); brothers, Edward and Herbert Johnson (Alberta); sisters, Harriet, Gwen, Charlotte, and Victoria (England). During the war, Kathleen worked at Rowntree Chocolates. In the mid-1960s, Kathleen received her hairdressing diploma and opened Kay\'s Beauty Salon in her house. A few years later, she went on to work for Sears Canada for approximately 15 years. Kathleen was a Brownie leader and was involved in several organizations in Hantsport. She held every position within the Eastern Star and Rebekah\'s. Kathleen loved to travel, making several trips within North America, to Holland, and often to her original home in England. She was a terrific fan of Coronation Street, making several visits to the set and meeting many of the actors. She enjoyed playing bridge and rummoli, with the family Christmas rummoli tournament being an annual event. A funeral service celebrating Kathleen\'s life will take place 2 p.m. Friday, October 16, in St. Andrew\'s Anglican Church, 59 Main St., Hantsport, Rev. Tom Henderson officiating. Interment will follow in Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport, with a reception following in the church hall.
