    • MAHONEY, Douglas Brenton

Of Halifax, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2019 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Chief Petty Officer John Douglas Mahoney and Mabel (Zong) (Mahoney) Bowser. Doug retired from the Provincial Department of Social Services 20 years ago; before that he had worked for Kimberly Clark and then for a short time with the federal government. He enjoyed water-skiing, downhill skiing, sailing, horses and antique cars. Doug was a hardworking man despite his diagnosis of MS at the age of 34; a 'no cure disease' and only four years ago became totally wheelchair dependent. He was determined to fight MS and his determination was a testimony to those now suffering from MS, that one can live a full life. Hopefully someday a cure will be found. Predeceased by sister, Louise Baldson.
