- CREWE, Allan \'Roy\' — 83, of New Minas, passed away Sunday, January 9, 2011, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Dawsons Cove, Hermitage, N.L., on April 18, 1927, he was the youngest son of the late Curtis and Dorothy (Roberts) Crewe. He taught school for a few years before leaving Newfoundland in 1949. A businessman all of his life, he owned and managed a BA Service Station in Dartmouth and was in charge of construction and maintenance carpentry for F. W. Robinson. He owned and managed the A. R. Crewe Siding, Doors and Windows Company until his retirement in 1985. While living in Lockhartville, he was a member of Lockhartville United Baptist Church and choir and was Cub Master for Lockhartville Cub Group. He was also a member of Wolfville Curling Club. He loved music and played the violin, guitar and button accordion for his friends and family. As an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting, fishing and barbequing with friends. He was a lifetime member of the Orange Lodge in Hermitage and also a lifetime member of St. Saviours Anglican Church. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, the former Beverly Babcock; brother, Gerald; great-grandson, Brock. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 13, in Lockhartville United Baptist Church, Rev. Gail Whalen-Dunn officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.
