1402 Uriel Maxine Jodrey

Of Hantsport, passed away peacefully at home, on Friday, December 30, 2022, at 105. She was the daughter of the late Abner Arlington and Georgia Kathryn (Riley) Kirkpatrick.

Whether baking or vacuuming her home, she looked and felt her best in dresses, heels and classic red lipstick. Her warm smile, quick humour and contagious laughter infused much joy and delight into every situation. Maxine conducted herself with grace and dignity. She was a faithful member of the St. Andrew’s Anglican Church in Hantsport.

Throughout their 74 years of marriage, John and Maxine had many adventures together and enjoyed traveling to learn about other cultures and people. They visited parts of Asia, Europe, Brazil and much of the United States. Summers were spent on Shaw Island, Chester. Maxine could be found picking blueberries, and making jams, jellies and biscuits for her family or practicing her ballroom dance moves with John. During winter they enjoyed traveling to the small volcanic island of Montserrat. They found much happiness in each other’s company, gardening, golfing and swimming. Maxine was extremely proud of John when he was inducted into the Order of Canada in February 2000, as a Companion of Merit and the role she played in helping him achieve such an honour.

Besides her parents, Maxine was predeceased by her husband of 74 years, John; son, Thomas Jodrey and brother, Barclay Kirkpatrick.

A private visiting, followed by a private funeral service celebrating Maxine’s life will be held in DeMont Family Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Tom Henderson officiating (masks are encouraged). 1403 Van WILGENBURG (Boersma), Hendrikje \"Hennie\"

Age 83, of Hantsport. Hennie left this world peacefully on June 15, 2020 in Harbour View Haven in Lunenburg. Hennie was born in Groningen, Netherlands in 1937 and immigrated to Canada in 1952 where she met her husband Willem (2004). Hennie loved people, and she had a special love for children and animals. One beloved pet who cannot go without a special mention was \"Nellie\". We all knew and loved Nellie too. The family would like to thank the staff at Harbour View Haven for the loving care provided to Hennie and for being able to laugh at her mischief. We are also thankful for the love and support of Hennie’s siblings and close friends over the years, she loved you all dearly and you were a source of strength for her during life’s difficult times. 		Boersma, Hendrikje (I7337)
 
1404 vanKIPPERSLUIS (Nederend), Johanna Maria
Age 92 , of Mount Denson, Hants Co., passed away peacefully Tues­day, October 14, 2014, in Hants Community Hos­pital, Windsor. Born in Papekop, Netherlands, she was a daughter of the late Wilhemius and Hendrika (vanBuren) Nederend. Johanna emi­grated from Holland in 1955 with her husband and four lovely chil­dren, settling in West Caledonia, Queens Co. There they added three more adorable children before mov­ing to a farm in Mount Denson in 1961, where they added two more darling children. In their spare time they poured whatever energy they had left over into St. Mary’s Church. She led the church singing and was a very active long-time member of the church guild, having received the Archdiocesan Medal of Merit in recognition of her generous contri­butions to St. Mary’s. Over the years many loved ones have been kept warm with Johanna’s beautiful hand knit socks, hats and sweaters. She was an avid seamstress having sewn all of her own clothing as well as most of her children’s. Her sewing talents went far beyond just cloth­ing. She was also very creative with other needle work. 1405 vanKIPPERSLUIS, Antonius \'Tony\' —- 62, of South Alton, Kings Co., passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2010, after a courageous five year battle with brain cancer. Born in Utrecht, Holland, he was a son of Jo­hanna vanKipper­sluis, Mount Den­son and the late Cornelis vanKip­persluis. Tony im­migrated with his family to Caledo­nia, in 1955 and most recently re­sided in South Al­ton. Tony was a man with a great vision and passion for life who had more ideas than time. His love of building things was apparent, even as a young boy when he crafted his own wooden chainsaw, boat, rifle and even a guitar. As he grew older, his love of the outdoors led him to start in the for­estry business and as a teenager he went on to earn his diploma in welding at the Kentville Community College. Tony loved to work, and work hard he did, establishing many businesses over the years, including a welding and fabrication shop, Christmas tree operation and u-pick, firewood and forestry business and septic pumping service. He even ran a pig farm and tractor dealership along the way. When Tony was initially diagnosed with brain cancer, and given only a short time to live, in true form he made a plan and a final list of all the things he needed to build and even in his final months he was still dreaming up new ideas. Tony was a true inspira­tion to everyone that knew him, he was so positive and while he accepted his fate he never gave up, with his wife Margaret standing strong by his side, no stone was left unturned where his treatment was concerned. Van Kippersluis, Antonius (I7321)
 
1406 vanKIPPERSLUIS, Margaret — 64, of South Alton, Kings Co., passed away on Wednesday, October 7, 2010, after a short but courageous battle with uter­ine cancer. Born in South Alton, she was the daughter of Rose Doyle and the late Raymond \'Pat\' Doyle. Mar­garet was a sweet, kind woman who loved to laugh. Margaret always enjoyed the out­doors. Growing up she loved to help her father work on the family farm and throughout her entire life she enjoyed spending sunny afternoons picking blueberries and riding her bike. Margaret, like her husband Tony, loved to work and dur­ing his illness, she took over the reins of the business they built together and continued to run the Christmas Tree U-pick, firewood operation and septic pumping service. During the Christ­mas tree season, she could be found with her dog, Chip working in the U­pick, handing out candy canes to the children, talking to old friends and making new ones. Margaret’s talents extended far beyond her business sense, she was a fantastic baker and a talented dancer. She loved spending Saturday nights at the dances with her best friends and when she stepped on the dance floor no one could keep up, except for Tony. She was an amazing woman, so bright and full of life and while she may have been tiny, she cer­tainly was mighty. Her strength was incredible and everyone that knew her was constantly amazed by her ability to persevere. 1407 VAUGHAN, Clyde Wayne — 73 of Coldbrook, formerly of New Minas, Kings Co., went to be with his Lord on Monday, January 28, 2013, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Lockhartville, he was a son of the late James and Leora (Tracey) Vaughan. He worked for Irving Oil Limited as a burner technician for 35 years, retir­ing in 1997. He was a loving son, broth­er, husband, uncle and a friend to all. He was an active member of St. James Anglican Church, Kentville, serving for many years with the Anglican Cur­sillo Movement and Alpha Program. Clyde enjoyed playing his guitar and brought joy by playing with a group of Christian friends at the VON Adult Day Care and Grand View Manor, Ber­wick. He had a hobby collecting postcards. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Mabel Nauss; sisters, Christina Boudreau, Gwen Crane and infant sister, Sylvia; brother, Arthur. Age 72, of Lower Sackville, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 4, 2018 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Windsor, she was a daughter of Verna and the late Arthur Vaughan. Judy had an avid love for horses, she loved to crochet afghans and doilies for her friends and family as well as cooking and baking. Fondly known as \'Judge Judy\', she was a mother to everyone and helped all who were in need. Predeceased by brother-in-law, Garnet Mason. Age 62, of Windsor, passed away Monday, April 10, 2017 at home. Born in Wolfville, he was the son of Shirley (Vaughan) Skipper, Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth.

Rick was a former member of the Windsor Fire Department and was a former member of Hants County Branch No. 009, Windsor and current member of Calais Branch No. 162, Lower Sackville of the Royal Canadian Legion. He loved hunting, singing, dancing, his cat \"Charlie\" and his old car, his 1984 Camaro. Rick especially loved playing with his grandchildren, even when they would paint his nails. Age 93, of Hantsport, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 5, 2020 at Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born November 27, 1926 in Avonport, Verna was a daughter of the late William and Agnes (Smith) Tracey.

Verna started work as a teenager at a hotel in Hantsport, then went on to work at the Yeaton’s Candy Factory. She said she liked the products they made way too much. Verna was a member of the New Minas Waves Senior Group and an adherent of the Hantsport Baptist Church. She loved to go to all the craft shows. Verna also loved to crochet and knit in her spare time, and her work was beautiful. She had a big heart and was a loving mother.

85, of Hantsport and Parrsboro passed away Sunday, May 26, 2013, in her home in Parrsboro. Born in Humboldt, Calif., she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Minnie (Marsters) Taylor. Wilda was a career registered nurse who was very proud of her pro­fession and her training at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal. She She was predeceased by her husbands, Floyd Fuder, John Mosher, and William Vincent; brother, John \'Jack\' Taylor. 1416 Vivian Rowena Shaw
Of Windsor Forks, passed away peacefully in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at the age of 81. Born on September 9, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Aubrey and Evelyn (Tracey) Schofield.

Vivian was a hard worker, from picking corn in the fields with her best friend, Juanita, to milking cows when she was eight months pregnant, to looking after her kids and grandkids. She and David enjoyed traveling with family and friends all over the Atlantic Provinces.

Besides her parents, Vivian was predeceased by her husband, David; a son in infancy; grandson, Patrick Shaw and all of her siblings.

Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). There will be no visitation by request. 1417 WADE, Kathryn Anne 'Kathy'
Age 72, of Barrie, Ont., formerly of Hantsport, Hants Co., passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 29th, 2016. She was a daughter of the late Bernard \'Bun\' and Jennie (Rushton) McDonald. Kathy and Jerry belonged to the Canadian Rose Society and on July 1st every year she and her husband, Jerry, opened up their home and gardens for everyone to come and have a cup of tea and walk through their extensive beautiful rose gardens. She and Jerry had a great love for Collies. Kathy loved her worked at Base Borden and made friends with her co-workers and the clients she served. 1418 WALKER, Frank James — 73, Wind­sor, Hants Co., passed away suddenly on December 30, 2010, in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born in Windsor on February 21, 1937, he was the oldest child of the late Murray and Annie (Patterson) Walker of Mount Denson. He spent most of his adult life in the United States employed as a booking agent for a circus. He was a sports en­thusiast all of his life and umpired games for the Hantsport Shamrocks many years ago. He returned home to live with his sister, Pat, and her hus­band, Granville, in 2005, and moved to Dykeland Lodge in 2008. He was hap­py to be near his childhood home and was most grateful for the care and kindnesses he received while at Dyke­land Lodge. 1419 WALKER, Janis Maria — 60, of Bish­opville, formerly of Greenwood, passed away Sunday, September 19, 2010, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Middleton, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Margaret Mary (Jeremy) Francis.

Janis lived on Glooscap First Na­tion, Bishopville at the time of her death and prior to this lived in Greenwood for 25 years. She gradu­ated from Mac’s Business College in 1967. Janis was employed at CFB Greenwood (14 Wing) for 25 years. She later became the National Presi­dent for the Native Women Associ­ation of Canada. Janis was also a Coun­cillor and Band Manager for the Glooscap First Nation for 28 years. She loved to travel and was to various places around the world. Although Janis never had any children, she cer­tainly was a mother to each and every one she loved. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Earl in 2007; birth mother, Freda (Francis) Lynch; brothers, Gordon, Billy and Stanley. 1420 WALKER, John David \"Chub\"

With great sadness, the children of John Walker of Leminister, Hants Co. (formerly of Avonport, King Co.) share his passing in Valley Regional Hospital on April 17, 2020, at the age of 73 with his daughters by his side. John was born in Windsor and spent his youth on McKinley Road in Mount Denson. He was the son of the late Murray and Annie (Patterson) Walker. He was predeceased by sisters, Laurel Walker, Patricia Fraser and Sandra Rafuse; and brothers, Frank and Gerald Walker. In his teenage years John was a member of the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets and in his 20s, he pulled tug-of-war. He was a long-time member of Hants West Ground Search and Rescue and volunteered during the Swiss Air recovery efforts. John was employed throughout Canada in the construction industry for most of his life. He operated a number of businesses in the past as well, including a fish market, peddling vegetables and concrete floor finishing. In keeping with Dad’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. 		Walker, John David (I7460)
 
1421 Wallace “Wally” Russell, age 71, of Hantsport, passed away suddenly on Thursday, June 11, 2020, at the Halifax Infirmary Site, Q.E. II, Halifax.

Born on July 6, 1948, in Bay Roberts, Newfoundland, Wally was the son of Clarice (Russell) Caravan of Bay Roberts, Newfoundland.

He was employed as a shipper at CKF Inc. until health issues forced him on disability and later retired in 2010. He enjoyed Ryan’s Ridge Camp Grounds, where he camped for over 20 years, and especially loved sitting around the campfire with his friends. His favorite pastimes were watching the Toronto Maple Leafs, the WWE wrestling, reading or watching a western, and playing a good game of crib. His fondest memories were of spending time in the woods and fishing with his Uncle Howard at an early age.

Wally was predeceased by his step father, Bert Caravan.

1422 WALSH (Flynn), Beatrice Pearl
Age 83, of Fal­mouth, passed away peacefully in the early morn­ing hours of Mon­day, September 1, 2014, in Hants Community Hos­pital, Windsor. Born on April 10, 1931, in Windsor, she was a daughter of the late Ainsley and Marie (MacDonald) Flynn. Talented and active through­out her life Beatrice was a Sunday school teacher, Girl Guide leader, square dancer, antique restorer, bluegrass fan, musician, and artist in oil paint and ceramics. Beatrice was a caring wife and mother to three career servicemen. She en­joyed flea marketing, camping, trav­eling across Canada, Europe, and winters in Florida. Most of all she loved her home, her family and her friends. She will be forever missed and fondly remembered. Beatrice was predeceased by infant son, Daniel; sisters, Ella, Venita, Muriel, Hazel, and Sadie; brothers, George and Laurie. Age 64, Hants Border, Kings Co., passed away on July 9, 2016 at home with her family by her side. Born September 29, 1951 in Wolfville, she was a daughter of Margaret Catherine (Allen) Romans and the late Gerald Henry Romans. After graduating from Horton High School, Audrey enrolled in the Nova Scotia Teachers College in Truro. While there she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and thus was unable to complete the course. In her younger years, before the ravages of MS took its toll Audrey loved to camp and swim, especially at Ponhook Lodge. She enjoyed cooking everything from delicious main courses to scrumptious desserts. Her many interests also included making quilts (one of which now keeps her mother warm at night) and latch hooking. 1424 WALSH, Greta May — 88, of Lock­hartville and Dykeland Lodge, Wind­sor, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2012, surrounded by her loving family, in Dykeland Lodge. Born in Lockhartville on December 11, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Gordon and Minnie (Tracey) Smith. She was predeceased by brothers, John, Wil­liam, Grant and Charlie. 1425 WALSH, Ronald Edward

Age 94 of Lockhartville and Camp Hill Veterans’ Memorial Building, QEII, where he passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018. Born in Avonport on October 25, 1924, he was a son of the late Seymour Douglas and Clara Belle (King) Walsh. Ron proudly served during the Second World War with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders, seeing front-line action with Company A throughout France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Ron worked at Minas Basin Pulp and Paper for over 25 years and then he pursued carpentry until retirement. He believed in a hard day’s work and took much pride in the home he built, especially his gardens and lawns. He stayed a kid at heart and enjoyed nothing more than joking around with his grandchildren. Ron was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Greta (Smith); brothers, William, Charles, Henry, Victor and twin, Donald; sisters, Jean Starratt, Madeline Colby, Hilda Sherman, Alice Walsh and Iris Whitman. A very special thank you is extended to the staff at Camp Hill, especially those on 4th floor Westwood Wing, for their excellent care and support shown to dad. A graveside funeral service will be held at a later date. 1426 WALSH, William Joseph \'Bill\'

Passed away peacefully Friday evening, May 17, 2019 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Son of the late Ada (Smith) and Lawson Walsh, Bill was born in Hampstead, Long Island, N.Y., June 28, 1928. He was raised in Hantsport helping his father move houses using teams of horses. In 1947 he became a member of the Army Reserve Recce Squadron before joining the RCAF in 1949. Working as a Flight Engineer and Aero Engine Tech on Lancasters, Dakotas, Neptunes, Argus and many others, he crisscrossed the country for the next 21 years. Upon retirement from the Air Force in 1970 he first went into real estate and then industrial sales becoming the East coast sales manager for an international company. Over the years he enjoyed a varied and fun life: ball player, hockey player, Cub Scout leader, square dancer/caller/instructor, golfer, fisherman, bluegrass fan and festival goer, frequent winter traveler to Florida, musician, and since having wifi installed, a devoted Freecell player. He enjoyed getting out to play with his harmonica-playing friends at local venues and playing the various nursing homes every Tuesday night with a local country band. Bill was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Beatrice (Flynn) in 2014 and son, Daniel in infancy in 1957; and brothers, John, Paul and Richard. He is well-remembered as a nice man and will be missed by all who knew him. Thank you to all the staff in the 200 Unit of Hants Community Hospital and all the Emergency Room staff for your kindness. 1428 WATSON, Audrey Lyle — 80, of Sack­ville (most recently of Northwood Ma­nor Nursing Home), passed away on January 26, 2013, surrounded by her loving family in Northwood Manor. Born in Hantsport, she was a daughter of the late Calvin Henderson and Thelma (Benedict, Henderson) Mad­dox. Audrey en­joyed ceramic painting, knitting and socializing with family and friends and was a long-time support­er of The Muscu­lar Dystrophy As­sociation of Cana­da. She was predeceased by husband, Claude; sister, Eleanor; grandson, Ernest in infancy; stepfa­ther, John Maddox and stepmother, Flo Benjamin. Visitation will be Fri­day, February 1 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sack­ville Dr., Lower Sackville. 1429 Wayne Edward SHANO — Hantsport

Passed away in QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax on Friday, January 7, 2022 with his loved ones holding his hands. He was such a brave fighter who wanted to come home but diabetes, heart and kidneys said no. Wayne had an incredible zest for life; he lived big and he appreciated every precious day he was given. He was a proud North-end boy who always loved to drive through his part of the city and reminisce about younger days and all the wonderful adventures he’d had, especially with his brother Brian. He was a ‘child at heart’ exploring toy stores and hobby stores and in his later years experienced the joy of model trains. He was a respected employee of Oland’s Brewery for 33 years; working at the Brewery was a family affair as both his dad, Bert, his brother Brian and his daughter Kathy worked there too. How he loved to play on the Oland’s baseball and hockey teams! Wayne was a proud dad whose dear daughter Kathy inherited not only his love of shopping but also of travel. They went to Disneyland, skied at Sugar Loaf and Smuggler’s Notch and enjoyed many rides in his prized mustard yellow MG Midget. He was an animal lover and a lover of dogs; he appreciated their unconditional love and companionship. Our dog Chester is lost without him. Wayne really liked to ‘stir the pot’, both in the kitchen and in conversation. In the kitchen he loved to cook and bake; he was our master chef- from BBQ whiskey sauce, homemade breads, cheese cakes and pumpkin pie with a hint of rum. And then there were conversations, especially with his good buddy, Roy when talking politics. He had a quick wit and a dry sense of humor. I could have written a book! Wayne and his sweetheart Susan made many incredible memories in their 25 years together. We worked on our ‘bucket list’ and did a good job of it, trips across the Pond, concerts and more concerts and especially crashing the Royal Wedding of Will and Kate. Wayne was the love of my life and I was his! Wayne was predeceased by his parents, Thelma (Robar) and Bert Shano; his brothers, Brian Shano and Jackie Robar. A heartfelt thank you to the VON staff that cared for Wayne with compassion and kindness, it was much appreciated; also, our most thankful respect and appreciation for the doctors and nurses of the Heart Function clinic, the Leg and Ulcer clinic and the Cardiac Care unit of the QEII. Special thanks to retired Dr. Frank Lo and Dr. Michael Diab; you’re the best!! In keeping with Wayne’s wishes cremation has taken place. 1430 Wayne Wellington Cox “Papa”(States), age 75 of Garlands Crossing passed away March 17, 2020 in Hants Regional Hospital.
Born in Mount Denson on December 29, 1944, he was a son of the late Eunice Mildred States.

1431 We are extremely sad to announce the passing of Kenny Boyd at his daughter’s home in Poplar Grove on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at the age 74. Kenny was a beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle and true friend to many. Born November 30, 1948, he was a son of the late John and Florence (MacDonald) Boyd.

Kenny grew up in and was a longtime resident of Falmouth. As a young man, he ventured out west and was a member of the Armed Forces for several years, participating in the 1970 Montreal “October Crisis”. Kenny also excelled as a hockey player at this time. Throughout his life he was a hard worker in whatever he pursued. In addition to being a woodsman for many years, he also worked on ranches, orchards and as a pipeline labourer.

Kenny was well known to his friends as "KB". He was very generous, softhearted and always had a kind word or a smile for whoever needed it. His passions in life included fishing, vegetable gardening, cooking, tapping trees for maple syrup, reading, nature, animals and having a cold beer with friends.

Besides his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne.

1432 We are sad to announce that Richard, age 86, passed away at Halifax Infirmary, QEII on Monday, May 18, 2020. Born in Windsor, on July 4, 1933, he was a son of the late Frederick and Mary (Harvie) Smith.

Besides his parents, Richard was predeceased by his siblings Marie Whiston, Shirley Cornies, Leota Davison, Palmer Smith and Kenneth Smith.

Richard was employed by the Minas Basin Pulp & Power in Hantsport for 36 years before retiring. For many years, Richard was involved as song leader at Glad Tidings and Dykeland Lodge in Windsor. For the past 20 years, Richard was a faithful adherent of Hantsport Baptist Church. He loved to play his guitar and sing gospel music both in his church and at local jams.

1433 We are sad to announce that Wendell Holmes Jeffrey,passed away peacefully on August 26, 2018, in the Veterans Unit, Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg. Born in picturesque Sandy Cove, Digby County, on December 22,1921, Wendell was the second eldest of eight children. His father, Floyd Vertal, made a modest living from the sea and the land and his mother, Margaret Elizabeth (Holmes), was a teacher and organist at the local Baptist church. After graduating from Normal College, he taught in a one room school in Great Village, Nova Scotia prior to the outbreak of the Second World War. He then served his country in the RCAF during the war, and later attended Dalhousie University with the assistance of the Royal Canadian Air Force Benevolent Fund earning a Bachelor of Science degree. Subsequently, he was accepted into the Dalhousie Medical School and graduated as Doctor of Medicine serving in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Core as a commissioned officer during that time. He brought his young family to Shelburne, Nova Scotia, in 1953, practising medicine with great dedication, skill and compassion until his retirement. He is fondly remembered by his patients, physician colleagues, nursing staff and other health care workers. With original partner Dr. D.R. Campbell, he established the Shelburne Medical Group, one of the first group family medical centres in Nova Scotia, providing uninterrupted comprehensive medical care to the community, encompassing general medicine, obstetrics, anesthesia and surgical assistance. Despite a very busy medical practise, he was a dedicated and much loved father and husband and became the ultimate Pater Familias to his children and his grandchildren after the death of our mother, Marjorie and subsequently to his great grandchildren, never forgetting birthdays and special occasions. He also contributed to his community in other ways, serving on Shelburne Town Council and as president of the Shelburne Kiwanis Club, and was a founding member of the Shelburne County Golf and Country Club (now River Hills Golf Club). He had a lifelong love of music and sang baritone with the Shelburne men's quartet with Earle Smith, Earl Darrow and Stan West, accompanied by Dot Smith. 1434 We are sad to announce the passing of Lorna Blanche Jenkins on March 16, 2021 at the age of 87. Born on June 13th, 1933, in Hantsport, NS, to Burton Cameron and Annie Kathleen (Whitman) Yeaton,

Lorna grew up in a large family and, following the early death of her father, her mother became the sole parent of seven. The Yeaton children developed strong bonds as they learned to support each other from an early age. Among those cherished bonds that have endured a lifetime, the ones with her only sister and with her twin brother were always special. Lorna has recently written a book in memory and celebration of the seven siblings.She is predeceased by her brothers Russell (Mabel) and Jack (Lily).

She was the wife of the late Bernard Cecil Jenkins.

Lorna graduated from the Nova Scotia Teacher’s College in Truro. It was there that she met Bernard. Over the years, they moved many times with their young family, finally ending up in Labrador City. In 2000, they returned to Nova Scotia where they built a home in Antigonish to be closer to family.

Daughter, sister, niece, cousin, friend, teacher, aunt, in-law, mother, businesswoman, grandmother, critic, and mentor: Lorna wore all these mantles with calm and grace. She was a masterful sewer and a reluctant but proficient knitter who was always willing to share her skills. Her quiet, steady presence was a boon to Deborah as she started her creative business.

Lorna wasn’t a huge fan of playing sports but a poetically excellent triple toe triple lutz or a hole-in-one would bring a tear to her eye and her hands to her mouth as she slowly crept to the edge of her seat. She was a wonderful cook, for whom cake was the pinnacle of culinary excellence, closely followed by the egg roll. Lorna threw herself into social events, as happy to entertain as to be a guest.

In retirement she and her sister travelled far and wide, often accompanied by other family members on trips where laughter and camaraderie were given free rein.

Lorna cared for her family with deep and abiding love. Her family, her friends and her beloved cat, Spike, all knew the value of this extraordinary gift.

1435 We, the family, are sad to announce that on Friday, May 17, 2024, Patricia “Pat” Lynn (Kelly) Eldridge passed away peacefully, in her sleep of natural causes, in the Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth, at the age of 73. Born on February 27, 1951 in Windsor, she was a daughter of the late Ronald “Ron” and Selena (MacKenzie) Kelly.

She was a woman who loved with her whole heart and gave everything she had and more to her family and loved ones. She fiercely cared for her seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and her beloved Friday night sleepovers were a thing of pure giving. You would never be alone once Pat had loved you.

Besides her parents, Pat is joining her beloved grandson, Mark-Jason “MJ” Eldridge; husband, Graham Eldridge and common-law spouse, Tim Dorman, resting in peace.

A special thank you to the kind and caring staff at the Windsor Elms Village, who kept Pat safe, cared for and comfortable in her final days.

July 3, 1917 - June 1, 2013. Jean passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 1, in Windsor Elms Vil­lage, Falmouth, at the age of 95. Born in Port Williams, she was a daughter of the late Emerson and Iona (Barron) Hutchinson. She was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Weagle; brother, Ralph Hutchinson; sisters, Frances Wellwood, Mildred Lutwick, Dorothy Reese and Margaret Rose Hutchinson; and brothers-in-law, Lawrence Lutwick, Theodore Miller and Arnold Wellwood. Jean will be fondly remem­bered as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Family was very impor­tant to her and she was always willing to lend a helping hand. She was a faith­ful member of Hantsport Baptist Church and was a former member of Kings Daughters. She enjoyed garden­ing, knitting and reading, but her fondest time was spent with family and friends at her summer cottage. 1437 WEATHERBEE, Earl William — 79, Wolfville, passed away July 9, 2011, in Grand View Manor, Berwick, where he resided for the last four months. Born December 30, 1931, he was a son of the late Gilbert and Clara (Jessop) Weatherbee. Earl enjoyed family get­togethers, politics, hockey and in his early years loved to play hockey. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a Past-President of Wolfville Lions Club and Past-President of Dr. C.B. Lumsden Branch No. 74, Royal Canadian Le­gion, Wolfville. Earl was a plumber by trade and had worked for the Nova Scotia Department of Highways, New Minas. Besides his parents, Earl was predeceased by stepson, Carl Smith; grandson, Chandler; sister, Shirley; brothers, Albert and Lewis. There will be no funeral by request. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, in Serenity Lind­say Funeral Home, Wolfville. Family flowers only. Interment will be in Wil­lowbank Cemetery. 1438 WEBSTER (Bishop), Myrna Clare
Age 92, of Port Williams, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016, in Shannex-Blomidon Court, Greenwich. Born in Bishopville on June 21, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Lola (Coldwell) Bishop. The youngest of six children, she began her married life with Earle Webster in 1942. For 18 years they raised their family and built a successful farm in Port Williams. In November 1960 the unthinkable happened, her husband Earle passed away and Myrna was left with a farm to manage on her own plus five children ages 17 to the youngest, a baby born a week later. Her strength and determination never ceased to amaze. Her priority was always her kids, and with the help of family through the 1960’s she kept the farm going by making sure the work always got done. She took in school boarders and even provided a home for troubled children for many years. She worked incredibly hard doing whatever she could, back in the days of no modern conveniences. In 1970 she married her second husband, Gordon, only to be on her own again two years later when he passed away. Again she carried on by working off the farm to earn an income. Her homemade apple pies and bread were legendary. It was almost magical how quickly she could make an apple pie for desert and have it perfect every time. At the end of her life when she battled Alzheimer’s she always knew her kids. She was a fighter to the end. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her husbands, she was predeceased by sisters, Norine Ross and Nita Munden; brothers, Harold, Harvey and Ernie. 1439 WEIR, Andrew

Age 77, of Falmouth, formerly of Bedford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 20, 2019 in Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth. Born in Scotland in 1942, he was a son of the late John and Elizabeth (Aird) Weir. Andrew was a civil engineer for over 40 years. He moved to Canada with his wife Margaret in 2009. He was a member of North Brook Chapel in Dartmouth and enjoyed a number of years of fellowship there. He was known for his sincere Christian beliefs from a very early age. He was an elder for many years and was known to give wise counsel. He was also a Sunday school and youth leader. Andrew organized weekly gospel events for his local community and enjoyed singing very much. A private family graveside will be held in Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport.
