JOHNSTON, Darrell Kenneth \'Sambo\' — 65, Hantsport, passed away August 26, 2012, at home. Born on February 13, 1947, in Windsor, he was a son of the late Raymond and Irene (Lunn) Johnston. Darrell worked for the Town of Hantsport for the past 25 years. He had worked for Maritime Forestry and CKF Inc., Hantsport. Darrell was an active member of the Hantsport Fire Depart­ment for 17 years. Darrell loved to watch ball games, especially the Hant­sport Shamrocks. He loved to read and go for long drives with his wife Shir­ley. Darrell enjoyed helping people and would often be seen mowing lawns for others. Besides his parents, Darrell was predeceased by his aunt, Doris Ellis.

Darrell married Shirley Lee Kyle. Shirley (daughter of Benny Kyle and Louise Marie Barkhouse) was born on 27 Jan 1949 in Wolfville, Kings, Nova Scotia; died on 13 Nov 2016 in Falmouth, Hants, Nova Scotia; was buried in Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport, Hants, Nova Scotia. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

JOHNSTON, Shirley Lee

Age 67, of Hantsport, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 13, 2016, with her family by her side, in the Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth. Born on January 27, 1949 in Wolfville, she was a daughter of the late Benny Kyle and Louise Marie (Barkhouse) Pearson.

Shirley enjoyed darts, dances, 45\'s, crib tournaments, watching ball games and her favourite hockey team, Montreal Canadiens and watching her boys play numerous sports whether on a field, the ice or a court. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. Shirley worked at Steadmans, Zellers, Uncle John\'s and her best friend Sue\'s restaurant. She also volunteered for numerous organizations.

Shirley was a dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Besides her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, Darrell; in-laws, Ray and Irene Johnston.

Raymond married Irene Frances Lunn. Irene (daughter of Ralph Lunn and Ethel Freeman Ellis) was born on 4 Jan 1925 in Gypsum Mines, Hants, Nova Scotia; died on 2 Oct 2003 in Halifax, Nova Scotia; was buried in Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport, Hants, Nova Scotia. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

PEARSON (Barkhouse), Louise Marie — 80, Windsor, passed away Au­gust 10, 2011, in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor. Born in Wolfville, she was a daughter of the late Clyde and Linda Mary (Amerault) Barkhouse. Marie worked for 36 years with Keyes Fibre, Hantsport. Marie was an active mem­ber of Hantsport Baptist Church, where she was a Sunday school teach­er. She served as secretary of the Kings Daughter, a fundraising organi­zation within the church and secreta­ry for the Women’s Missionary Socie­ty for 15 years. She was in the Hand Bell Choir at Dykeland Lodge. Marie enjoyed knitting, gardening and read­ing. Marie enjoyed her neighbours and making treats for them. Be­sides her parents, Marie was prede­ceased by brothers, Sonny and Howie.
