Juanita enjoyed reading and loved cats.

Besides her mother, Juanita was predeceased by her son, Catlin Jeffery Porter in infancy; and brother, Gary Porter.

Age 82 years, of Hants Border; passed away peacefully in Hants Community Hospital on Monday June 24, 2013. Born in White Rock on March 3, 1931, she was a daughter of the late John and Jessie (Schofield) Oickle. Predeceased by her parents; grandson, Caitlin; son-in-law, Lee Jack; husbands, Gerald Porter and Stuart Coldwell. In keeping with Iona’s wishes, cremation has al­ready taken place. A family grave­side service will be held in Greenfield Cemetery today, Thurs­day, June 27 at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Gary Manthorne officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Iona can be made to Greenfield Cemetery Fund or to the charity of donor’s choice.

Jessie Matilda OICKLE (Schofield), Jessie Matilda 96, passed away peacefully, accompanied by her family, on December 16, 2009, in Wolfville Nursing Home, Wolfville. She was a daughter of the late Clarence and Ester (Demont) Schofield (Greenfield, Kings Co.). Jessie was predeceased by her husband, John in 1969; her brothers, Archie, Lawson, Aubrey, Harry, Charles, Herman, and Leslie "Buster", and sisters, Edith Davidson, Lova Atwell, and Mae Brown. Jessie and John ran a boarding home and grocery store in Melanson, then moved to Hants Border and ran Oickle's Grocery for 46 years. Jessie's body has been donated to Dalhousie University, Medical Science Department. Donations can be made to Greenfield Cemetery, Greenfield. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 19, at 2 p.m. in Serenity Funeral Home Chapel, 568 Main St., Wolfville (902) 542-2151 with Rev. Gary Manthorne officiating.
