ALLEN, Thelma Elisabeth - at Providence Healthcare, Toronto, July 17, 2012 at 84. Predeceased by her parents Arthur and Elsie Weatherby and her husband Ray Allen. Adored by her friends and family, Thelma was born May 20th, 1928, in Truro, Nova Scotia. She earned a Bachelor of Science with Home Economics from Acadia University, majoring in Nutritional Sciences, and her family and friends were the grateful beneficiaries of her training. She spread love, loyalty, generosity, compassion and respect everywhere she went, and loved finding a good bargain. She battled cancer with intrepid grace, determination and humour, which further endeared her to her family and medical team.

Her late husband, Arthur, was a former Mayor of Hantsport and he was a past master of Poyntz Lodge, Hantsport. She is survived by daughter, Thelma Allen, Barrie; two grandsons, Brian, Mississauga; Michael, Calgary. She was predeceased by husband, Arthur; sisters, Hattie, Minnie; brothers, Alfred, Edwin, Bruce. Cremation has taken place. Funeral was held February 2 in Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, Barrie. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer's Society.
