Hantsport postmaster Gilbert ‘Gib’ Veino was selected to represent all Hants County volunteers at the annual Provincial Volunteer Awards Ceremony.

Veino was involved in multiple organizations and causes. He coached minor baseball, basketball and hockey teams; he was a Scout master for 12 years and a member of the Hantsport Municipal Recreation Commission for almost 20 years. Additionally, he served on the board of directors for the Hantsport Memorial Community Centre, served 21 years with the Hantsport Fire Department (where he was secretary for 18 years), served three years on town council and on the Hantsport School Board, plus two years on the Hants Vocational School Board and EMO. He spent 10 years as the chairman of the March of Dimes campaign in Hantsport, and donated time to his church, St. Andrews Anglican in Hantsport, as well. He was a member of its choir for 25 years.

Robert married Marjorie Gertrude Whitman on 5 Aug 1924 in Hantsport, Hants, Nova Scotia. Marjorie (daughter of Rupert Parker Whitman and Blanch Ada Jefferson) was born about 1899 in Round Hill, Annapolis, Nova Scotia. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Edgar married Dorothy Olivia McKinnon on 10 Mar 1934 in Windsor, Hants, Nova Scotia. Dorothy (daughter of Marsden Kendrick McKinnon and Viola Dale Winters) was born in 1907 in Port Williams, Kings, Nova Scotia; died on 19 Apr 2000 in Windsor, Hants, Nova Scotia. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Hibbert married Minetta Silver. Minetta was born in 1874; died on 28 Dec 1961; was buried in Blockhouse Cemetery, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Mrs. Minetta Veinot, widow of Hibbert B. Veinot, passed away at the Fishermen's Memorial Hospital on Thursday, December 28th at the age of 87. In uncertain health, the end came unexpectedly. Mrs. Veinot was known as Gramma Hibble by many. She had a retiring nature but was always ready to lend a helping hand to those who needed her. Her quiet, dignity was a constant inspiration to family and friends. Mrs. Veinot usually spent the winter months with her son James, Mahone Bay but this year she was with her daughter Ida (Mrs. Harold Langille) at Northwest. She was one of the oldest members of St. James Church and attended church until October; she was very devoted to her family, church and a faithful member of the Women's Institute, Blockhouse. Surviving are four daughters, Edith (Mrs. Charles F. Joudrey), Bridgewater; Gertrude (Mrs. Fred Begin) Mahone Bay; Ida (Mrs. Harold Langille) Northwest; Pauline, on the Teaching Staff, Lunenburg Academy; four sons, Robert, Hantsport; Harry, Blockhouse; James, Mahone Bay; John, Somerville, Mass.; 27 grandchildren; 47 great grandchildren; 9 great, great grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews. A son George and infant Stephen predeceased her; on sister Flo (Mrs. Eben Mader, Cambridge, Mass. Funeral service was held at St. James Anglican Church, Mahone Bay on Sunday, December 31st at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Harry Corbin officiating, preceded by family prayers at Freeman's Funeral Home.
