SHAY, Douglas Bertram \'Doug\'
Age 84 of Hantsport, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born in Wentworth Creek on August 31, 1932, he was a son of the late William Alfred and Doris Harriett (Spicer) Shay. Doug retired from TRA in Middleton after 22 years of sales at the age of 58. He became well-known for his beautiful woodworking creations and frequent days on the craft fair circuit. He spent many hours sharing his love of woodworking with many people he met at those events. He was an avid New York Yankees and Toronto Maple Leafs fan and in his younger days, he spent many hours fishing and hunting with his friends. Doug was a veteran of the Hantsport Fire Department and a member of Hantsport Town Council. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Maureen (2015); sisters, Marguerite Young, Connie Stephens, Claire Rick, and Nancy Mosher; brothers, Alfred \'Chum\' and William \'Billy.\'
Douglas married Maureen Candis MacDonald. Maureen (daughter of Gordon MacDonald and Jessie Harvie) was born about 1936 in Three Mile Plains; died on 14 Jul 2015 in Kentville, Kings, Nova Scotia; was buried in Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport, Hants, Nova Scotia. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
