    Notes:

    Died:
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Tammy Lynn (McLellan) Doucet, age 65, of Belliveau Cove, NS. Tammy passed away on July 27, 2023 at her home in Belliveau Cove with family at her side after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Born May 16, 1958, in Windsor, Nova Scotia she was the daughter of the late Ivan (Whitey) and Zelda (Starratt) McLellan.

Tammy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, as well as a kind sister, and a wonderful friend to all who knew her. She made friendships easily wherever she went. She had a love for animals, especially dogs and horses. Growing up in Hantsport, Tammy loved to ride and care for her horse, “Clipper”, never complaining about the “chores”. Kiwi, her loving canine friend, was by her side from the day she brought her home and a constant companion during her illness.

Tammy lived in Red Deer, Alberta for several years where her two boys were born. She returned to Hantsport, always considered home, maintaining many close friendships. With her sons Jeremy and Jacob, Tammy made a move to Saint John, NB, to take a job with Moosehead Breweries, where they lived for a number of years.

Tammy loved music! To play it, sing it or watch it, it didn’t matter. She enjoyed music festivals and met her husband, Tony, at a blue grass event!

She loved to travel but Covid-19 restrictions and cancer disrupted her plans to spend her retirement winters in Florida. Tammy was always at peace at the beach!

Her grandson Haylen was an incredible joy in her life, celebrating all his achievements with great pride.

Tammy could always find the positive in people, and was quick to compliment their strengths. She would often say, “Life is too short to be doing something you don’t like!”

The family appreciates and truly thank the many people who visited, shared memories, laughed, cried and cared for her during her illness! A very special thank you to the VON and Canadian Red Cross for their compassion and professionalism.

    Died:
Ivan Sinclair “Whitey” McLellan, age 86, of Hantsport, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015, at Dykeland Lodge, Windsor.

Born on July 9, 1929, in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, he was the son of the late William and Pearl (Smith) McLellan.

Whitey was an avid sportsman and sports fan, known from the Maritimes to Florida! It was said that umpires would delay the start of the game until they saw Zelda and Whitey seated behind home plate. Whitey was a member of the Summerside Juvenile Hockey Team which won the Maritime Championship in 1943. His love of sports continued, taking in his last Shamrocks game last summer.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a granddaughter, Keri Price; his siblings, Marion, Helen, Ruth, Edith, Ira, Bill and Everett.

Ivan married Zelda Louise Starratt. Zelda (daughter of Lloyd Winston Starratt and Leonore May Bishop) was born on 26 Apr 1932 in Hantsport, Hants, Nova Scotia; died on 27 Jul 2020 in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, Hants, Nova Scotia; was buried in Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport, Hants, Nova Scotia. Notes:

    Died:
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Zelda Louise (Starratt) McLellan, from Hantsport, on July 27, 2020, at Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, with loved ones by her side. Born in Hantsport, on April 26, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Leonore (Bishop) Starratt and wife of the late Ivan (Whitey) McLellan.

Zelda was a very energetic lady who loved family, animals, music, people, and baseball. Zelda and Whitey were inseparable baseball icons who could be seen at ballparks anywhere in the Maritimes all the way to St. Petersburg, Florida! There are many stories told of more than one umpire, from Hantsport Shamrocks to Kentville Wildcat games, who would yell from behind home plate, “OK, Whitey and Zelda are here, let’s play ball!”

Her energies took her and the family twice to live in the States; Worcester, Mass. and St. Petersburg, Florida. Zelda spent most of her life in her beloved Hantsport as a homemaker and instilled a sense of love and pride in her children and expected nothing but best efforts from them. Her determination was evident when she went to work at the Drug Store in Hantsport long enough to make the money required to have a swimming pool installed in her backyard on William Street! Whitey, who couldn’t swim a stroke, would walk home from his FINA station on Main Street and have a dip before enjoying the lunch she always had ready.

Zelda loved music and especially enjoyed family/friend sing songs whether it was at home, the church, or at the camp in Bishopville! Her eyes would light up at the sight of any dog or cat and she had multiple combinations of both during her life. In later years she absolutely adored her little Shih Tzu, Rascal, and could be seen walking him through the streets of Hantsport.

Zelda was predeceased by her parents, Lloyd and Leonore (Bishop) Starratt; husband, Ivan (Whitey) McLellan and brother, Wilbur Starratt and granddaughter, Keri Price.

There will be no public service or visitation upon Zelda’s request. A private graveside ceremony will take place at the Riverbank Cemetery at a later date. Donations in memory of Zelda may be made to Dykeland Lodge, Hantsport Baptist Church Building Fund, or charity of choice.
