It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our dad, Laurence Cox, July 9, 2022 in Valley Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family; eight days prior to his 93rd birthday. Born July 17, 1929 in Windsor, to the late John and Ida (Hebb) Cox. Predeceased by his loving wife, Audrey (Harvey) Cox; brothers, Robert, William; sister, Anna Doone; sisters-in-law, Erma Cox, Phyllis Grant and Gladys MacDonald; brothers-in-law, Perley, Arnold, Fred, Lloyd Stuckey, John MacDonald and Bernard Grant. Dad met the love of his life, Audrey, on July 1, 1950, they married July 9, 1953. In keeping with their beautiful love story, Dad left us to be with Mum on the date of their 69th wedding anniversary. Dad had a strong love for his family, he always enjoyed getting together for holiday celebrations, birthdays and Sunday dinners, complemented with a glass of Crown Royal or two. As a true “Horse Show Dad’ he was always ready with a brush and towel for the final spit and polish before his children entered the show ring. A well-known and respected businessman in the Annapolis Valley, Dad owned and operated L E Cox Motors in New Minas for 30 years. Mum and Dad enjoyed travelling together in their motorhome. Their adventures took them as far west as Winnipeg, as far south as Florida with stops at many destinations along the way. They spent many fun-filled winters in Florida with friends old and new. Being die-hard bluegrass music fans, Mum and Dad attended festivals across the Maritime Provinces and the Northeastern United States. They often hosted Sunday morning breakfast complete with “Floats”. Dad was a member of St. James United Church, Hantsport. Our sincere thanks to the many health care professionals who provided excellent and compassionate care to Dad over the past years.
